Data center in Brno with intelligent energy

The data center is a unique project of Faster CZ, the aim of which is to offer customers a quality background for their IT infrastructure, meeting the strictest security and technological standards at favorable prices. During the design and construction, the rules for 100% redundancy of all systems are strictly observed.

In 2013, a new building was constructed in Brno-Maloměřice, Czech Republic that was specially designed for the housing of a data center. The first block, Unit A encorporating a hall with a capacity of 135 racks with an area of 200m2 was successfully filled. Due to demand, in 2019, Unit B was completed which increased the capacity to 230 racks and complied with our customers’ wishes to rent private data rooms with a capacity of 16 racks.

Data center services

In addition to housing services, we also specialize in current cloud technologies offering the operation of virtual servers, containers, backup and/or a comprehensive virtual data center. Easy connection of various types of services within the data center into one functional unit and a dedicated data connection between the customer’s headquarters and our data center ensures simple implementation.

As part of our network threat prevention, we provide professional solutions for VPN, Firewall and protection against DDoS attacks. We can prevent inaccessibility of your server along with service or the entire infrastructure.

High availability

Data connections are made along three geographically independent optical routes. Connection redundancy is provided by BGP and TRILL protocols. It is also possible to use the services of other telecommunications operators in our data center. This ensures full network neutrality.

The data center located in a non-flood area is powered by two transformer stations. One of them is reserved solely for FASTER and is located within our premises. Protection against power outages is also provided by two diesel generators tested for three days of continuous operation. Each of the two power branches is sized to maintain full load and has separate UPS protection.

The cooling system is divided into two stand alone circuits. Each of them has a higher cooling capacity than the planned capacity of the data center and consists of several independent units. The fire protection system uses Argonit gas and is designed to extinguish a fire within 60 seconds.

Surveillance and security

The data center is open 24/7 for customers. To ensure maximum security, the customer always enters through a multi-factor authorization process in the presence of on-site staff. Cameras and other security features are installed throughout the complex. All provided services are under the constant supervision of our team, which is ready to accept your requests at any time by phone, e-mail or via the web portal.

How do we calculate the price of electricity?

• For both hosted server (server housing) and/or whole rack (rack housing), the price of electricity is charged to consumption on a separate electricity meter
• Virtualized services have energy included in the price

Unique green energy

To reduce costs and increase operational efficiency, we cool the data center with a system that uses excess heat to heat the building, heat utility water and only dissipate the excess to external coolers. The heat pumps installed in the system allow the use of free-cooling at higher outdoor temperatures than with conventional solutions and thus further increase the cooling efficiency. On hot/sunny days, electricity from solar panels covers a significant part of the cooling system’s consumption. The entire building uses an intelligent system based on our own Unipi products to manage the environment.
